GUWAHATI, Nov 21 - City-based Marwari Hospitals today launched an audiology and speech therapy department. It will facilitate services like audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emission tests, etc.
�In speech therapy, hearing problems in newborn babies, children and adults can be diagnosed. Speech therapy can be given to children who have difficulty in speaking,� said Dr Amit Agarwala, junior consultant of ENT at the hospital.
Recently, two new machines of audiometry, Puretone Audiometry and Impedance Audiometry were introduced at Marwari Hospitals. Puretone Audiometry is basically helpful in testing the level and cause of hearing loss, while Impedance Audiometry helps in finding out the condition of the eardrums as well as the middle ears.
