GUWAHATI, April 9 - A cultural programme organised in sync with the 60th annual conference of the Assam Tribune Employees� Union at the Assam Tribune complex here at Chandmari was held under the stewardship of Hiranya Kumar Barman.
The ceremonial lamp on the occasion was lit by the Executive Editor of The Assam Tribune, Prasanta Jyoti Baruah. A chorus was presented under the direction of prominent artiste Ghana Deka, which was followed by song, dance and other cultural items by the children of the employees.
Earlier, a new executive committee of ATEU was elected on March 31 for the 2017-18 term.
The new executive committee comprises of Siba Prasad Deka as president, Manoranjan Sarkar as vice-president, Dugdha Ram Kalita as general secretary, Debasish Sinha and Tankeswar Kakati as assistant secretaries, Pranjal Hazarika as organising secretary, and Utpal Karmakar as treasurer. On the other hand, Hiranya Kumar Barman, Shyam Kumar Sinha, Gautam Kakati, Chandi Kalita, Tulika Pathak and Ramen Phukan were elected as executive members respectively.
