New EAC Chief takes over

SHILLONG, March 1 - Air Marshal RD Mathur today took charge of the Eastern Air Command (EAC ) headquarters here as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief.

Air Marshal Mathur was the Senior Air Staff Officer, South Western Air Command, at Gandhinagar prior to his present posting.

The new EAC Chief joined the National Defence Academy in 1978 and was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF in June 1982. He holds MSc and MPhil degrees in Defence and Strategic Studies.

Air Marshal Mathur is a qualified flying instructor and instrument rating examiner with over 5,000 hours of flying experience on a variety of fighter aircraft, trainers and helicopters. For his distinguished service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2003 and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2014 by the President of India.

Meanwhile, the outgoing EAC Chief Air Marshal R Nambiar has taken over charge as the AOC-in-C of Western Air Command in Delhi.
