MIRZA, March 8 - Journalists of Palasbari LAC felicitated the new Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of South Kamrup district, Rajiv Prakash Baruah and Prasanta Saikia, respectively, recently at Mirza.
Addressing mediapersons of Palasbari LAC, the South Kamrup DC said that the creation of South Kamrup district covering the Palasbari, Chhaygaon, Nagarbera, Boko and Goroimari revenue circles has fulfilled a long-cherished demand of the people of the region.
�Currently, South Kamrup district could not operate as a full-fledged district in view of the elections. The new district could be operational as a full-fledged district only after the elections when the district administration will be equipped with necessary staff,� said the new DC.
He said that all the offices under the South Kamrup district administration would come up at Chhaygaon as the headquarters of the district and a permanent office of the district would be established.
South Kamrup district SP said that he is well aware of the region as he had already served for a long time at Goalpara district as an Additional SP, adding that he would try to develop the district police force as one of the strongest and best forces in the State.
Addressing the gathering, Circle Officer of Palasbari revenue circle, Pankaj Chakraborty, said that media could play a crucial role in turning South Kamrup into a full-fledged district asking the mediapersons to extend their helping hand for speedy development of the region.
