New cow milk variant hits market

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 12 The Milk Consumers Forum, Guwahati while welcoming the launch of a new milk variant, cow milk, in the market by West Assam Milk Producers Cooperative Union has requested the union to ensure that the new variant is supplied regularly to the consumers.

The forum further said that Purabi Dairy should take all precautionary measures to maintain the necessary Prevention of Food and Adulteration (PFA) standard and inform the consumers about the availability of Purabi milk and its products at various milk distribution centres.

Convenor of the forum Dr Lokendra Prasad Deka said that the new variant to a certain extent will meet the demand for quality and hygienically handled milk.

For lack of proper information of availability of Purabi milk, many consumers are deprived, said Dr Deka stressing that step should be taken to ease the doubts and confusions amongst the milk consumers.

However it needs to be mentioned here that some consumers have complained of irregularity in the supply of the new cow milk launched in the market from this month. A resident of Wireless Rima Barthakur said that the supply of the cow milk is irregular. The point from where I regularly get the milk cannot provide the new milk variant everyday, she said.
