New Court building opened in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, Dec 25 - A newly-constructed court building was inaugurated here on Sunday.

The district and sessions judge of Hailakandi, Debashis Bhattacharjee inaugurated the building which entailed a cost of Rs 4.16 crore.

The inaugural meeting held on the occasion was addressed by Deputy Commissioner Krishna Gobinda Bhuya, district and sessions judge of Cachar, Kamalendu Choudhury, assistant district and sessions judge, TK Bhattacharjee, chief judicial magistrate Rana Dutta, superintendent of police Pranabjyoti Goswami, president of Hailakandi Bar Association Jamir Uddin Laskar, secretary Afjal Hussain Laskar, advocates Ujjal Kumar Das, Ashutosh Paul, Bipul Sarma, Abdul Rashid and Rajiv Purkayastha, among others.

In his inaugural address, Debashis Bhattacharjee hoped that the new court building will benefit people coming daily from various places of the district seeking legal remedy. He said that work load in the courts had increased manifold under the present circumstances, hence he stressed on the need for early disposal of cases. A cultural programme was also held on the occasion. Members of the local Bar Association presented the inaugural song.
