GUWAHATI, May 22 � The General Council of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation following a meeting held with traders� associations recently, approved to amend the fourth schedule regarding the renewal charges of GMC trade licences yesterday.
According to this new amendment, the companies or organisations with a capital of Rs 20 lakh or above, which were earlier paying Rs 7,500 for renewing their trade licences, from now onwards will have to pay Rs 8,650 to renew their trade licences while those with a capital of Rs 10 lakh or above, which were earlier paying Rs 1500 to renew their trade licences, from now onwards will have to pay Rs 1750.
The organisations, which were paying Rs 1250 renewal charges, from now onwards, will have to pay Rs 1850. Under the new amendment, the small organisations which were earlier paying Rs 600, will have to pay Rs 700, the ones paying Rs 300 will have to pay Rs 650, the ones paying Rs 150 will have to pay Rs 180 and the organisations, which were earlier paying Rs 100 will have to pay Rs 115 for renewing their trade licences.
This amendment is supposed to overhaul the system of trade licence renewal, said a statement from the corporation.
