GUWAHATI, Dec 18 - A State-level network for faith leaders on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) was launched at the Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati, today under the aegis of the UNICEF, Assam.
The UNICEF has been actively engaged in promoting the cause of �Swachh Bharat� through engagement with faith leaders in Assam. The objective of the launch was to create a vibrant platform for giving orientation to create awareness among the faith-based leaders to influence people for a cleaner and healthier Assam.
RS Mushahary, former Governor of Meghalaya, attended the function as the chief guest. The other dignitaries present were Dr Tushar Rane, chief of UNICEF, Assam, Chinmoy Chaudhury, former Attorney General of Assam, Saumya Kumar Baruah, chief engineer, PHED, Fr Johnson Parackal, Executive Director of Don Bosco Institute, Fr PD John, Director of the Don Bosco Institute of Management, and prominent faith leaders including Bhadra Krishna Goswami, former president, Asom Sattra Mahasabha, Mufti Nasihur Rahman, principal, Al Jamiatul Islamia, Mangaldoi, Dhrubajyoti Gogoi, general secretary, United Christian Forum, Assam, representing various religions, also graced the occasion.
