GAURIPUR, Jan 24 - Under the auspices of the Netaji Anushilan Samiti, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was observed on Saturday with a daylong programme.
In the meeting, an art competition was held among the students of the locality. Jiban Gopal Pramanik, president of the Anushilan Samiti garlanded the life-size statue of Netaji along the NH 31 in the bus stand area of the town. Binoy Kumar Dutta, ex-chairman of Gauripur Town Committee hoisted the National Flag and paid tributes to the national hero. A symposium on the life and achievements of the soldiers of the Azad Hind Fauz was held where a large number of invited dignitaries spoke and appreciated the action taken by the Prime Minister for opening the files related to Netaji's death mystery. A cultural evening was also arranged. Netaji was also remembered at the Pass-more area of Dhubri town, Golakganj and Kaldoba situated along the Indo-Bangladesh border under Agomani circle.
