Netaji birth anniversary celebrated

NAGAON, Jan 24 � The 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was observed with a daylong programme under the auspices of Sadou Asam Gramya Puthibharal Santha and with the cooperation of Netaji Vidyapith.

The open session held on the occasion was chaired by Premeswar Das, retired Inspector of Schools. Attending it as the guest, the president of the Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha, Rati Mohan Nath, highlighted the life and philosophy of Netaji. Writer and poet Paran Kumar Borooah also shed light on different activities of Netaji.

The secretary of the Santha, Balladev Sharma presided over the function and the headmaster of Netaji Vidyapith Bhaben Chandra Nath welcomed the guests. Sambhuram Saikia, Fazlul Haque Maral and others also spoke in the function. The Project Officer of the Santha, Runjun Bora offered the vote of thanks. Poems were recited and patriotic songs were sung in some other functions held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji.

In another function, floral tributes were paid on the statue of Netaji near the SBI, Nagaon. Some other functions were also held in different localities of Nagaon.
