NESSIA awards micro sector entrepreneurs

GUWAHATI, April 19 � The North Eastern Small Scale Industries Association (NESSIA) has presented the �Udyog Vatika� award to several micro sector entrepreneurs at a seminar-cum-award presentation function in the Institute of Engineers auditorium here.

Sailen Baruah, State president of NESSIA, in his inaugural speech said that it was a first-of-its-kind endeavour in the State to promote �Aarogya Vatika� in the service sector in collaboration with Eazyways Health Care, Noida, which could explore maximum employment opportunity through self-engagement.

NESSIA has already engaged 10,000 personnel in this field and another one lakh are in the pipeline to generate employment in Assam during 2015-16.

Kumud Medhi, State general secretary NESSIA, while announcing the names of the award winners, said NESSIA had conceived the novel idea in 2008 to recognise outstanding entrepreneurs with social responsibility for their individual contribution towards nation building.

Altogether five outstanding individuals, including women, were honoured on the occasion for the year 2014-15. The first Udyog Vatika award was conferred on Mia Hussain of Nagaon, Hareswari Boro of Orang, Madan Konwar of Morigaon and Rabiram Boro and Mayaram Basumatary of Rowta.

Over 200 entrepreneurs from all over Assam, industry associations, social activists, senior officials of Eazyways, etc., attended the function.
