DIBRUGARH, Oct 10 - Edulife India, a research, product development and services based organization today set up Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) at Government Girls� High School cum Multipurpose School in Amollapatty here. This school is the first girls� school in the North-east, established in 1885.
ATL is an approach of NITI Aayog, Government of India to create an environment of scientific temperament, innovation and creativity amongst students. ATL is envisaged to be a playground to play and learn science beyond school text books through application based learnig to foster solutions to community problems. The Lab would contain educational and learning do it yourself� kits and equipment on science, electronics, robotics, open source micro-controller boards, sensors and 3D printers and computers, said Subrata Kar, Director, Edulife India.
Atal Innovation Mission of the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, which will provide grant-in-aid of Rs 20 Lakh to each school that includes a one-time establishment cost of Rs 10 lakh and operational expenses of Rs 10 lakh for a maximum period of 5 years to each ATL.
Gitashree Chaudhury, the Principal in-charge of the school, said the project will help in empowering students of this heritage institution of learning. Edulife India, a registered vendor of NITI Aayog, focuses mainly on bringing technological advancements in the country through various research projects and enhancement of engineering skills through various quality initiatives. Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, who was present at today�s inauguration, said he is happy to see an ATL in the school, and hoped students would take full advantage of the facility.
