IMPHAL, March 24 - The first COVID-19 case was reported in Manipur today, official sources said. It is also the first positive case of novel coronavirus in the Northeast.

Director of Health Services, Manipur, Dr K Rajo Singh in a press release said one 23-year-old Manipuri person returning from the United Kingdom (England) has tested positive on Tuesday morning. �She is under care and treatment at JNIMS isolation ward,� the release said.

It added that tracing of her contacts is important and anyone who came in contact with this person is to inform the Director of Health Services, Manipur and start self isolation immediately until further instruction.
