Nepali translation on Sankaradeva released

UDALGURI, Nov 14 - A collection of Assamese articles on Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva written by Thaneswar Malakar which was translated to Nepali by Bishnu Sarma Neupane of Udalguri was released by Sahitya Akademi awardee litterateur Tarapati Upadhyaya at a modest function held here on Saturday.

The function was organised by the Udalguri regional committee of Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota. Praising the Nepali translation, Upadhyaya said translation helps the two communities concerned and all others to unite. �We should always encourage such noble ventures, and it is indeed a moment to feel proud that such a great work on Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva has been translated to Nepali,� he said.

Earlier, floral tributes were offered to Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota.

During the programme, Sahitya Akademi awardee Pushpadhar Sarmah threw light on the life and philosophy of the great poet, while poet critic Laxman Adhikari spoke on his poetic qualities. Another poet Baidyanath Upadhyaya also spoke on the occasion.

The function was chaired by Kalpana Chhetri, president of Udalguri regional unit of ANSS and anchored by Mohan Rawat, GS of the organisation.
