MUSHALPUR, 13 Laligurans Theatre, the first and only mobile (touring) theatre of the world in Nepali language and the only existing mobile theatre of the Assamese Gorkha community has set out once again in its cultural journey after its revival this year following a long gap of over a decade.
The first and the only existing theatre of the world in Nepali language started its cultural tour for the current year from Nikashi in Baksa district where the inaugural show was graced by Ganesh Kachary, EM, BTC as inaugurator along with local MCLA Moon Singh Brahma who released the mouthpiece entitled Laligurans on October 1 last. The theatre named after the hilly flower rhododendron (laligurans) was formed at Nikashi Hastinapur, now in Baksa district, by a handful of local cultural enthusiasts in the year 1994 and was able to gain immense popularity.
Due to lack of experience in mobile theatre management and related reasons the first venture, however, could not continue after the fourth year. Meanwhile, during this time one or two other theatres in Nepali language came into existence in upper Assam on the pattern of Laligurans after its closing down but they also followed the same path. Finally an initiative was taken by Laligurans Sankritya Kala SangamNikashi, Baksa this year to revive the first theatre Laligurans and with a new vigour Laligurans started its show from Nikashi where it staged five plays along with four dance dramas.
The plays for this cultural year includes Binod Khanals Chhori Buhari, Prithibilash Bhattarais Amako Aanshu and Ounsiko Joon, Rohit Gautam and Bishnu Sunars Agnisnan and Dharmaraj Upadhyayas Sindoor Potey.

The four dance dramas include M Gurungs Laligurans, Binod Khanals Dalliko Bihey Jhilkelai Diye as well as Ek Thunga Phoolko Samadhi and Santa Sirpali along with Bhuban Mainalis Hamro Sanskriti.
