Nemcare resumes normal work

GUWAHATI, May 30 - City-based Nemcare Hospital today announced that all the 60 doctors and other staff who had come into first contact with the COVID-19 positive patient in the hospital have tested negative in coronavirus screening.

The hospital has now resumed functioning 24X7 with normal OPD, IPD and other facilities. Proper sanitization of the entire complex has also been completed, said the hospital�s managing director Dr Hitesh Baruah.

�We have tested 60 doctors and other staff who came into contact with the COVID-19 positive patient who was admitted to Nemcare for a surgery. As a preventive measure the hospital�s third floor was blocked and preventive measures were taken from May 21,� he added.

After the first samples were taken from the doctors and staff on the day the COVID-19 positive patient was detected, all of them were quarantined. The results of first samples of all the doctors and staff were found negative. Again on the fifth day of quarantine second samples were collected, that eventually showed negative in the screening.

�It has become a set example for others to know that if we follow the basic norms as per guidelines then we can surely win the battle that has been faced by many in this pandemic,� the hospital authorities reiterated.
