NEIDP quits from BJP-led MDA

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, March 23 - North East India Development Party (NEIDP) has quit from Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA), the alliance which is led by ruling BJP in the State.

Initially, MDA was formed by 11 political parties, which included among others, BJP and its partners NPP, and LJP in the BJP-led government in the State. Other political parties included in the alliance are Shiv Sena, Aam Adami Party (AAP), Trinamool Congress, Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA), Manipur National Democratic Front (MNDF), North East India Development Party (NEIDP) and Manipur Peoples Conference (MPC).

The alliance was floated with the objective of campaigning against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the wake of widespread protests in North East against the Bill.

Trinamool Congress had earlier quit from the alliance.

NEIDP quitting the alliance came barely two days after the party announced to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections by fielding its candidates in both the Parliamentary seats of Manipur.
