GUWAHATI, Aug 11 In a bid to ensure effective implementation of various infrastructure projects in the North-East, the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) recently signed an MoU with RITES Ltd, a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Railways.

The memorandum was signed by BP Muktieh, CMD, NEDFi and Arbind Kumar, Director (Projects), RITES Limited.

Through this collaborative venture, both NEDFi and RITES will be exploring consulting activities in key infrastructure sectors, such as traffic and economic studies, engineering surveys, geology and geo-tech studies, environment engineering, contract management and construction supervision for multi-disciplinary projects for ports and waterways, highways and bridges.

The MoU assumes significance given that the North-east is witnessing some of the largest civil construction programmes and infrastructure projects in the region, such as the mega road expansion projects, gauge conversion and new lines under railways, hydel and thermal power projects, oil and natural gas, river-ways and multimodal transport projects, etc., besides the proposed construction of green field airports.
