GUWAHATI, Oct 12 A delegation of North East Association of Kickboxing Organisations (NEAKO) recently met Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi to apprise him of the steps taken by NEAKO to popularise kickboxing in the region.

They discussed the impediments in promoting this sport as the National Kickboxing Federation (WAKO India) is yet to get recognition from the Indian Olympic Association and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

NEAKO requested the Union Sports Minister to lend his good office in this regard so that the federation gets the necessary recognition without further delay, stated a release.
