NE tour operators� body formed

GUWAHATI, July 28 - The Northeast India Tour Operator Association (NEITO), an association of tour operators of North East India approved by the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), was formed recently.

The main objectives of the body are promotion of North East India as a tourism destination on the tourism map of the world and bringing all MoT-approved tour operators of North East India under one umbrella so that the standards of tourism service quality can be monitored and maintained in the region. The NEITO also seeks to work in close coordination with the public and private stakeholders for the overall and sustainable development of the tourism industry in the region.

Vishal Jain of Shivani Aviates, Guwahati, has been selected as the president, and Hemanta Das of Network Travels, Guwahati, as the vice president of the tour operators� body. Madhusmita Khound of Avani Travel Services, Dibrugarh, and Sazid Subhan of Fastrack Travels, Guwahati, have been selected as the secretary and treasurer respectively.

Arijit Purkayastha of Koyeli Tours & Travels, Guwahati, is the chief adviser of the association. The association has been registered under the Registration of Societies Act XXI 1860.
