NE should align with Modi: Zeliang

By Newmai News

DIMAPUR, March 31 - Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang today praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision and plans for the Northeastern States and said the NE would benefit more if the State Governments were aligned with the PM.

He was campaigning for BJPs official candidate for Bokajan Assembly constituency of Assam Dr Numal Momin today while sharing the dais with Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani at Bokajan town.

Most of the NE States are hard put for resources and therefore, the people of the NE States would benefit most if the State Governments were aligned with the NDA at the Centre to ensure maximum assistance, the CM said.

Referring to the boundary dispute between Assam and Nagaland, the Chief Minister said that though the Nagaland Government had written to Ministry of Home Affairs stating that it would prefer the issue to be resolved amicably through people to people contact, his Congress counterpart in Assam had insisted on the arbitration of the Court, and that the matter continues to linger.

If the BJP comes to power in Assam, I am confident that the Government will agree to resolve all pending disputes peacefully and amicably through people to people contacts and peace committees so that Nagas and people of Assam can continue to live together peacefully and harmoniously for generations to come, he said.

Earlier, speaking at the rally, Nagaland Home Minister Y Patton said, we have done away with the Congress and in the next general elections in 2018 the Congress will find it very hard to send a single member to the Assembly.
