NE public relations conclave held

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Guwahati Chapter organised the 4th North East Public Relations Conclave on the theme �Public Relations in bridging gaps� here today.

The event was attended by SK Barua, managing director, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) as chief guest, while Rita Bhimani, the doyen of PR in India and CEO, Ritham Communications, and Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, CMD, Pride East Entertainments Private Limited, were the guests of honour.

In his inaugural address, Barua said the role of PR had drastically changed over time, with its focus shifting from one-sided communication to a holistic engagement with stakeholders to achieve long-term results. �It is very crucial to identify our audience, to rightfully engage with them and maintain good PR with them,� he added.

Bhimani, in her keynote address, said the role of PR and CC professionals is to be the harbingers of information and transparency.

�Change in mindset and approach is imperative to bridge the gaps to achieve success,� she said.

Bhimani�s latest book PR2020: The Trending Practice of Public Relations was released on the occasion.

Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, in her speech, termed PR �a meditation through which we have to touch the lives of people,� while stressing the importance of social responsibility of every business entity.

The annual journal of PRSI, Guwahati Chapter, Seven Sisters, was also released by the distinguished guests.

Earlier, in the inauguration session, Madhuchanda Adhikari, chairperson, PRSI, Guwahati Chapter, welcomed the distinguished guests, speakers and the house and briefed the gathering about the PRSI and the activities carried out by the Guwahati Chapter.
