NE Olympic Games in Manipur from Oct 24

IMPHAL, Oct 20 - Manipur is all set to host the North East Olympic Games at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex here from October 24 to 28. Around 2,000 sportspersons from the eight North Eastern States are expected to take part in the games.

The athletes will compete in 12 different disciplines including archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, football, judo, karate, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting and wushu.

All the sportspersons and officials will stay at youth hostels, National Sports University hostels and other places inside the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) president Th Radheshyam Singh, who is also the School Education Minister, and officials of the MOA, Youth Affairs and Sports Department and police conducted a social service camp at the Sports Complex today.

Around 600 sportspersons, including players from the Sports Authority of India, police trainees from the police training centre at Pangei, members of the MOA and others participated in the service camp.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Judo Association has announced players for the Manipur judo team which will take part in the Games to be held in Imphal for the first time.
