NEW DELHI, May 29 Uncertainty over extradition of detained ULFA general secretary Anup Chetia may be nearing an end, with the impasse likely to be settled during Prime Minister Narendra Modis Bangladesh visit.

Highly placed sources told newsmen that the matter is being settled and it is likely to be finalised during the Prime Ministers tour. The Prime Minister is going to Dhaka and the issue is likely to be finalised then, sources said.

Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on June 6 and 7. Indications are that the two Prime Ministers may also jointly flag off the Dhaka-Shillong bus service.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference on the completion of one-year of the NDA government, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that militancy in North-east is under control.

The Home Minister said that in Assam, 76 people were killed by NDFB(S) faction. Security forces have arrested 271 persons and 10-11 cadres of the Bodo militant group were killed.

In the last one year, we have given citizenship status to many Hindus of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who faced religious persecution and in the future also we will continue to give them citizenship, Singh said.

The Home Minister said that the security situation in North-east is being monitored regularly at various levels. Sustained insurgency operation is continuing against the NDFB (Songbijit) militants.
