GUWAHATI, Feb 8 - The 9th Topcem ASJA Media Sports Festival came to an end here today.
On the final day of the four-day festival, Prag News defeated Chaygaon Press Club 3-1 to lift the Harendranath Baruah Memorial Trophy. Earlier, in the semifinals Chaygaon defeated DDK Guwahati while Prag News got the better of Electronic Media.
In the chess championship, Manoj Medhi of Dainandin Barta emerged champion while Diganta Saharia of Prag News and Bimal Chandra Singh of All Manipur Working Journalists Union occupied the second and third positions respectively.
In the closing function, Chief Minister�s media advisor Hrishikesh Goswami was present as the chief guest. Director of Information and Public Relations Rajib Prakash Baruah, president of Topcem Cement�s marketing division Dr Anil Kapur, NRL officer Madhuchanda Adhikari, international footballer Debashis Roy, sports organiser Taher Ahmed were also present as guests on the occasion and gave away the prizes. The festival was sponsored by Topcem Cement, OIL, NRL, UCO Bank, SBI, Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, among others.
