IMPHAL, March 7 - Host Manipur emerged the overall team champions by winning 81 medals including 42 gold, 23 silver and 16 bronze at the 2nd edition of National Level North East Games that concluded at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal on Monday.
Manipur was followed by Mizoram with 45 medals including 17 gold, 21 silver and 7 bronze and Tripura with 42 medals including 9 gold, 10 silver and 23 bronze.
Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and PHED Minister I Hemochandra, who is the president of the Manipur Olympic Association were present in the closing function. Chairman of Hill Areas Committee Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Consultant of Manipur Government Dr RK Nimai and other higher officials of sports department also attended the concluding session of the 6-day sports event of the region.
