NE Development Summit 2015 from tomorrow

GUWAHATI, May 24 � The North East Development Summit 2015, organised by the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development jointly with industry major ASSOCHAM and supported by the Ministry of DoNER and Ministry of Food Processing, will begin on May 26 here.

The summit will comprise the Development Expo 2015, Agri and Rural Expo and North East Development Meet.

The event will provide an opportunity to the region to showcase its potential and opportunities to the rest of the country to participate in the growth and development of the region.

The meet will bring together a large number of national and international stakeholders from the industry, institutions, government and development sectors to showcase the programmes and schemes, products, technologies and services and deliberate upon the issues and opportunities and the way forward.

The event, comprising technical conferences, investment and business meets, partnership events, entrepreneurs� seminars, farmers� workshops and exhibitions, would serve as a significant step towards addressing the objectives, a press statement said.

The North East Development Summit 2015 also aims at serving as the partnership and networking platform for different stakeholders, who want to engage in the north-eastern region and explore opportunities, said Dr MJ Khan, president, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Dr Khan added that with the support and participation of the major Union ministries such as DoNER, Food Processing, Rural Development, Industries, MSME, Commerce and important organisations such as Spices Board, KVIC, SFAC, NCDC, NABARD and State Bank besides states of Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal, Nagaland etc., the event will serve an important networking platform to the industries and investors about the potentials of the region, business opportunities available and the scope for investment and growth.

Dr Khan said the meet will have important presentations from national level experts, which will provide valuable inputs to the state governments for formulating appropriate agro, industrial and development policies aimed at inviting investments and partnerships, enhancing competitiveness and accelerating growth.

The NE Development Summit 2015 would thus provide the youths, women, NGOs and development agencies the interaction opportunities with the national level institutions, industries, experts and officials, besides providing exposure to farmers about latest agri-input products, technologies, farming practices, government schemes, agriculture, horticulture and rural projects, marketing and post-harvest management.
