NE craft conclave from today

GUWAHATI, March 1 - The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) is organising a North East Craft Conclave 2017 at the NEDFi House Convention Centre here from March 2 to 5 with an objective to promote the handloom and handicraft products of the Northeastern region on the e-commerce platform.

It will see a congregation of leading agencies involved in online marketing, quality certification, online packaging, etc. The event will provide a platform to artisans and entrepreneurs of the region to have direct interaction with the leading e-commerce entities exclusively promoting handloom and handicraft products, such as Craftsvilla, GoCoop, Weavesmart, Ishippo, Chasingsun, Giskaa, etc.

The founders and CEOs of each of these e-commerce websites are participating in the event to have a detailed understanding of the craft products of the region. Since, quality standards play an important role, organisations working on certification of craft mark, fair trade practice, etc., have also been invited to disseminate information on their services and procedures.

The conclave will be inaugurated at 10 am on March 2 by JK Sinha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of DoNER in presence of Professor Pradyumna Vyas, Director, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, which will be followed by three plenary sessions to address various issues related to online marketing of craft products. There will be two theme sessions on March 3 on Craft Mark and Fair Trade Practice.

Around 100 artisans and entrepreneurs of the region will also participate in an exhibition during the conclave till March 5.
