JALUKBARI, May 2 - A two-day chief engineers� conference of north-eastern region which was held at the Headquarters, Additional Director General of Border Roads Organisation, Jalukbari, concluded yesterday, according to a press release issued today.
The basic aim of the conference was to decide the methodology to be adopted to complete the assigned targets for the financial year 2019-2020.
The conference began with an opening address by the Additional Director General Border Roads (ADGBR). This was followed by briefings by all the participating chief engineers on their achievements, bottlenecks, etc.
Innovative solutions were also discussed vis-a-vis site-specific problems, especially in snowbound and high rainfall areas. The method to calculate the scour depth of foundation of bridges in boulderly strata was also discussed.
Some important decisions were also taken to improve the efficiency of the organisation.
Two private firms were also given an opportunity to brief the gathering on their technology and products which are suitable for the organisation. The use of new technology and innovative materials would not only enhance the efficiency of the organisation, but also result in better quality, it was felt.
All the participating chief engineers projected their tentative requirements of stone aggregates to complete the assigned targets and also projected the demand for additional stone crushers and hydraulic excavators, these being critical equipment. Some important decisions were also taken to expedite the progress of various ongoing road, bridge, tunnel and airport projects, the press release added.
