NE Centre of IGNCA organises lecture demonstration on rod, glove puppetry

GUWAHATI, Feb 20 - Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA), Regional Centre (North East), Guwahati organized a lecture demonstration on recently at the TC Girls� Government HS and MP School, Guwahati Club, Silpukhuri here, a press release stated.

IGNCA has been working as a major resource centre for cultural resource material since long which involves conducting various research and documentation programmes. One of IGNCA�s activities is to promote knowledge and learning process among school and college students through the medium of puppetry and other creative expressions.

A lecture demonstration was organized on rod and glove puppets based on folk tales for generating social awareness among the students. The show was presented by Dipjyoti Gogoi, practitioner, promoter and a puppeteer herself along with her sister Shikhajyoti Gogoi, student of Performing Arts at Dibrugarh University. The Principal of TC Girls� Government HS and MP School, Dr Chayanika Sharma appreciated the programme. The programme was also appreciated by the teachers and students who expressed their eagerness for more such programmes in the future.

Dr Richa Negi, Director, IGNCA, Regional Centre (North East) felicitated Dr Chayanika Sharma, and Dipjyoti Gogoi. IGNCA, Regional Centre, Guwahati was also represented by its research team Pooja Sonowal, Seema Boruah, Orijeet Borah and Krishnakshi Goswami who also helped in organising the programme.
