NDRF conducts mock drill at LGBI Airport

GUWAHATI, Sept 29 - The first battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today organised a mock drill at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

SK Sastri, Commandant, 1st Bn NDRF, who is looking after the entire north-eastern region for disaster response, said that NDRF, fire brigade and airport personnel displayed amazing skills during emergency exercise. They rescued and evacuated the victims placed under various simulated scenarios.

The equipment and manpower used in the exercise played a crucial role in the rescue operation. The exercise showed the preparedness of the staff and officers concerned , especially during accidents and calamities. Such types of exercise would definitely help both the LGBI Airport staff and NDRF teams to boost their self-confidence during rescue and relief operations, he said.

During the emergency exercise, effective methodology and response drill were rehearsed and practised to ensure effective, speedy and safe response with rescue equipment.

The efforts of the NDRF and airport authorities were witnessed by DGM LGBI Airport Guwahati, technical staff and a huge gathering of LGBI Airport, local dignitaries and electronic and print media.
