NDRF conducts COVID-19 awareness programmes

GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - In order to create awareness among the common people regarding preventive measures against COVID-19, the 1st Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today conducted an awareness programme at Ropeway Terminal, Kachari Ghat here.

The programme included awareness generation by the NDRF team on novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and modes of transmission, infection, prevention and control, proper use of mask, hand hygiene and social distancing.

A live demonstration on hand washing was also shown as part of the programme. During the awareness programme rescuers distributed face masks and pamphlets. Rescuers also placed posters and hoardings on COVID-19 preventive measures at relevant places.

Randhir Singh Gill, Commandant 1st Battalion NDRF said that though the lockdown is over, the threat of COVID infection still persists. �So as a preventive measure, we should continue to follow the norms relating to social distancing, hand hygiene and mask wearing,� he added.

An NDRF team also conducted an online awareness programme on Covid-19 at St Clare�s Convent High School, Borjhar.

Since the beginning of COVID infections in the State, the 1st Battalion NDRF, Guwahati has been carrying out sustained campaigns to spread community-level awareness about the precautions to be taken to contain further spread of the novel coronavirus.
