GUWAHATI, Sept 26 � The 1st NDRF, Guwahati on Friday in a statement issued to the press claimed that it was an NDRF rescue team that retrieved the body of a landslide victim last afternoon in Narengi.
The statement said that the victim identified as Debojit Pal was trapped in the debris since September 21.
�Although civil defence, police and army personnel continued their search and rescue operations to trace the victim, it was the NDRF team that succeeded in retrieving the body and handed it over to the local police station with all the formalities,� mentioned the release.
The release further said that the operation was not a joint operation as claimed by the army and other agencies. �NDRF carried out this operation independently and successfully retrieved the body�.
