By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, May 1 - The 12th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), stationed at Doimukh in Papumpare district, today distributed ration items to around 200 households of Hollongi Nyishi village, strictly following social distancing and other guidelines as per the COVID-19 protocol.

The villagers mostly homemakers received rations like rice, dal, mustard oil, salt, potatoes, onions, etc., from the Hollongi unit of the NDRF Battalion at the Patila Secondary School playground under the Balijan circle bordering Assam. The ration items were provided by NDRF jawans from their own money.

NDRF Inspector Akhilesh Kumar, under whose guidance the programme was conducted, stressed the need of social distancing, use of face masks and hand sanitizer, and importance of handwashing to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Kumar later told reporters that the ration items were contributed by the NDRF jawans as per their capacity to help needy persons who are facing problems due to the ongoing lockdown. We also conducted an awareness session on fighting coronavirus and preventing its spread, he said.

The NDRF team is providing all possible help to the public by conducting awareness programmes on COVID-19, spraying disinfectants at public places, distributing ration items, etc., and these programmes will continue in future, Kumar added.

We are very happy that the NDRF is helping us at a time when we are facing a lot of problems due to the lockdown, said a beneficiary.
