TURA, Aug 3 - An early morning encounter between police and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in East Garo Hills (EGH) led to the death of a militant while few others are suspected to have been injured.
The incident took place at about 6 am in Tarasin village under Songsak police station in East Garo Hills.
�Based on information of the presence of a mixed group of miscreants, some from NDFB and some local miscreants, an operation was launched early this morning. Upon seeing the approaching police team, the militants fired leading to retaliation from our end,� police said.
�There was a brief exchange of fire after which many of the miscreants managed to flee. One militant, identified as Koma Boro of NDFB was killed in the exchange,� police added.
One AK rifle along with a magazine were recovered from the possession of the militant.
