NDFB bandh passes off peacefully

BONGAIGAON, Jan 31 - The 12-hour statewide bandh called by National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) passed off peacefully in Bongaigaon and Chirang districts today.�

The National Highway-31 (c) passing through Chirang and Bongaigaon wore a deserted look. Similarly, markets, shops , Government offices and banks remained closed in Chirang district. However, there was no report of any untoward incident during the bandh.�

Kokrajhar Correspondent adds: The bandh affected the normal life in Kokrajhar district today. All shops and business establishments were closed during the bandh period. Vehicles were also off the roads.

Udalguri Correspondent adds: The 12-hour dawn to dusk Assam bandh called by the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) was total and peaceful in Udalguri district. During the bandh period, there was no incident of any unlawful activities and the business establishments were closed and vehicular traffic was off the roads.

The important places like Udalguri, Harisinga,Tangla, Khoirabari, Rowta of the district wore a deserted look during the bandh. The bandh was called by the outfit to protest against the life imprisonment verdict by the CBI Court to its chairman Ranjan Daimari and nine others.
