NCHAC gets first woman chairperson

HAFLONG, June 13 - Ranu Langthasa was elected unopposed as the chairperson of the NC Hills Autonomous Council at the special session called by pro-tem chairman Sauthangjem Hrangkhol following an order by the Assam Governor on Monday.

Dima Hasao gets its first woman chairperson with Ranu Langthasa being appointed to the post since the formation of NC Hills Autonomous Council in 1951.

After assuming office, Langthasa said that she was hopeful for new development to take place in the district under the leadership of the newly elected CEM, Debolal Gorlosa. She also appealed to her team to work for the betterment of the district.
