NBT regional office in State soon

JORHAT, Oct 15 � The National Book Trust of India (NBT), a premier book publication body, is going to set up a regional office in Assam within a short span of time. This was revealed by the director of NBT M A Sikandar in his speech during the inaugural function of the Jorhat Book Fair sponsored by NBT at the Jorhat District Sports Association�s playground here today.

�Keeping an eye to the enthusiasm of the book lovers in the NE region NBT has taken up the responsibility to establish a regional office in Assam�, said the director.

He further added that NBT would also start two book stalls in the state soon. One of them would be established in Guwahati. The location of another proposed stall is yet to be decided.

Inaugurating the book fair Dr SK Roy, Chairman, Oil Technology Association of India (Eastern Zone) said that the scientific attitude of the people can make their lives good. He also said that the book fairs can create an atmosphere of book reading in the country.

The souvenir �Prajna� was released by Jogen Chetia, former head of the department of Assamese, Sibsagar College.
