Sivasagar, March 17: Nazira election district geared up for the polls on March 27 holding voter sensitizing meetings in different places and taking out a procession from Simaluguri Natya Mandir to Masjid Tin Ali on Tuesday which was flagged off by Lakhimi Dutta, SDO and Election Returning Officer.

The mobile election vehicle was flagged off by Election Observer Dr Partha Sarathi Mishra. The Observer was optimistic about holding the elections in a peaceful and orderly manner. Media persons Manoj Dutta, Bhaskarjyoti Borgohain and Anuj Rajkhowa spoke on the importance of casting votes and that it is a humble service to the nation. Prabhat Borthakur, a senior citizen also addressed the meeting while Brand Ambassador Ananya Dutta rendered her voice in singing popular songs.

Nazira administration today held a meeting in Nazira college and organised a Rangoli competition on ‘Election Our National Festival’.

Adhunika Chutia, Bitupon Gogoi and Aditi Lahon were awarded as the first three participants among the students. The competition was conducted by Prasanta Phukan and Ali Hyder. The wall magazine brought out on the occasion was released by Dr Partha Sarathi Mishra, General Observer Dr Suresh Rajkonwar, Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed and Mausumi Duwora during the cultural programme.
