Navarang lift Indra Prova Dutta trophy

GUWAHATI, March 3 - Navarang Club emerged champions in the Guwahati Sports Association�s A Division Cricket League to lift the Indra Prova Dutta memorial trophy.

Navarang defeated Gauhati Town Club (GTC) by 11 runs in a close final of the championship at the IIT playground in North Guwahati today.

Electing to bat first, Navarang gathered a commendable total of 183 for five in their stipulated 35 overs. Amit Boro (43), Ranjit Changmai (37), Bishal Roy (35) and Mahbubul Haq (32) contributed satisfactorily for Navarang as the GTC bowlers could not make much of an impact on them.

The GTC batsmen today failed to live up to the mark and were finally all out for 172 in the last over. Veterans Deep Bora (45) and Simanta Neogi (32) were their major contributors while Abir Chakraborty (3/14) and Mahbubul Haq (3/35) were the leading wicket takers for Navarang.

GSA cricket secretary, Ranjit Sarma thanked the IIT management for allowing the League to be hosted in their ground.
