Navajyoti, FCI in safe zone

GUWAHATI, Sept 7 � Navajyoti Club entered into the safe zone as far relegation is concerned in the RG Baruah Super Division Football Championship with a thumping 6-2 victory against Dynamo Club.

In the other match of the day Sunrise Athletic Club played goalless draw against FCI Sports Club. FCI SC also managed to avert relegation after today�s draw.

On the second ground of the Nehru Stadium here today, Navajyoti played a spirited game from the kick off itself and opened the account in the 14th minute. Nigerian striker Nwokwu Michael Okwudici, who was the star of the day scoring three goals, found the net with a sharp drive. After the goal the match became one sided as they went 3-0 ahead in the 30th minute. Nwokwu made it 2-0 in the 27th minute while the third goal was scored by Santul Rabha in the 30th minute.

Three minutes before the break Deepak Dey managed to reduce the margin for Dynamo. However, the game became interesting in the 56th minute when Kh Amojao Singh netted the second goal for Dynamo to make the score line 3-2.

Navajyoti boys woke up from slumber after conceding the second goal and fired three salvos within a span of five minutes.

In the 71st minute Nwokwu enhanced the difference and after three minutes substitute Clever G Momin made it 5-2. Dhabesh Daimary completed the rout just after one minute and sealed the fate of the match in Navajyoti�s favour.

With this victory Navajyoti gathered 11 points with one match to go. FCI is also in a safe position with nine points while Sunrise AC (7 pts) and Dynamo Club (5 pts) are in neck deep trouble. In the last match Dynamo is in a must win situation against Sunrise while a draw will be enough for Sunrise to stay in the Super Division.

On the first ground both FCI and Sunrise failed to break the deadlock despite going all out with some hard working efforts.
