GUWAHATI, July 6 - On the occasion of Van Mahotsav, the Assam State Zoo today organised Natures Trail in collaboration with Legends Society and Wildlife of Africa Conservation Initiative. The event was carried out with jungle trekking with a beautiful storytelling session by Minket Lepcha, filmmaker and storyteller and Akash Harizan, wildlife conservationist.

Zoo DFO Tejas Mariswamy and Nilima Brahma, president, Legends Society also participated in Natures Trail with the kids.

Van Mahotsav is a festival dedicated to forest. Natures Trail was organised to sensitise children about forests and to develop attachment and love towards trees so that they can be future saviours of forests, the DFO said.

Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said it was a splendid initiative taken by the Assam State Zoo authorities to develop a sense of attachment of children towards trees.

In line with the ongoing Van Mahotsav, this initiative gives out a positive message in respect of making the children aware of the vitality of the bio-diversity and enabling them to learn to conserve it for the generations to come and enjoy mother earths beautifulness, Suklabaidya added.
