Nature-loving Headmaster bidden farewell at Balipara

KALAIGAON, Oct 8 - The local people of Kalaigaon bade farewell to Sahiruddin Ahmed, who was well-known as a nature-loving Headmaster of Balipara KM High School, at a public ceremony held at Balipara KM High School on October 3.

The Headmaster superannuated on September 30. Nearly a thousand people attended the farewell meeting which was presided over by Romeo Khaklari. Senior citizens of Kalaigaon, teachers, former students and members of the general public attended the farewell ceremony to offer their thanks and good wishes to Ahmed for his dedicated service to the students� community and people of the villages.

It may be mentioned that Sahiruddin Ahmed had all along been a green crusader who was instrumental in adding lungs to the greater Kalaigaon area in his never-ending mission of planting more and more saplings and thereby greening the society.

His consistent greening efforts were formally recognised as he was awarded the Award of Excellence by the Udalguri district administration in 2009.

Two other teachers of Balipara KM High School, namely Imdadur Rahman and Khitish Chandra Das were also felicitated on the occasion of their superannuation this year.

Several distinguished people of Udalguri district, namely former Academic Inspector of Schools Jayanta Das, literary and cultural activist Tarun Azad Deka, Majidul Islam, president of Kendukalai Sahitya Samaj, Kalaigaon, Gaurisankar Das,vice president of Udalguri Zila Sahitya Sabha, journalist-cum-teacher Hafij Ali, journalist Ujjal Das, Putul Goswami, Headmaster of Balipara KM High School etc., spoke on the occasion and offered their best wishes to all the three retired teachers of the school.
