Nat�l Science Day observed at Mangaldai

MANGALDAI, March 1 - The Assam Science Society, Mangaldai branch in collaboration with the Mangaldai College Science Forum and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mangaldai College under the patronage of the Assam Science, Technology, Environment Council (ASTEC), Guwahati organized the National Science Day at Mangaldai College on Tuesday under the theme �Science and Technology for specially abled persons�.

Paying homage to Prof CV Raman and lighting the ceremonial lamp, Dr Khagendra Kumar Nath, principal cum president, organizing committee inaugurated the programmes of the day. Dr BC Hazarika, principal of Kharupetia College and life member of the Assam Science Society, Dr Rama Borah, retired Medical Officer and noted litterateur and Dr Khalilur Rahman, retired HoD, Physics, Mangaldai College while participating as invited guests highlighted the significance of the National Science Day and different aspects of the life and philosophy of CV Raman and its scientific contributions.

They also said that science has made our life more comfortable and no term, like �disable� is used as such today. They also reiterated the need to be more empathetic to the especially-able persons and encouraged the gathering, researchers, students and academicians to use science and technology for this section of people as well.

The day-long programme also comprised Science Quiz, Science Model Competitions and Essay writing competitions among the students from Class VI to TDC.

Altogether 250 participants joined in these competitions.

In the valedictory function held at the end of the day, the participants were given prizes and certificates.
