GUWAHATI, Sept 6 � Various Central trade unions including their affiliated bodies in the State will resort to a nationwide strike on September 7. The strike is in protest of the Government's anti-labour policies and its failure to check the unprecedented rise in prices of essential commodities, especially foodstuff.
The strike has been supported by worker-employees' federations of government as well as non-government industries and enterprises.
The five-point charter of demands of the trade unions include immediate and effective steps to check price rise and to universalize and strengthen the public distribution system (PDS); stopping sale of shares of Central PSUs.
