National seminar on Jyotiprasad Agarwala ends

DIBRUGARH, Sept 21 - The two-day UGC-sponsored national seminar on �Jyoti Prasad Agarwala in Indian context: contemporary society, literature and Culture,� organised by DHSK Commerce College in association with Dibrugarh Zila Sahitya Sabha, concluded recently.

Several scholars, educators, researchers and students presented their papers on the subject during the two-day event. The seminar focused mainly on the thoughts, works and contributions of Jyotiprasad Agarwala.

Dr Nirajana Mahanta Bezborah, Dr Jayanta Kumar Borah, Dr Prafulla Kumar Nath, Dr Bhupesh Bhagawati, Dr Nilimjyotioti Senapati, Loknath Goswami, Dr Gayatry Devi Goswami, Dr Sangeeta Saikia, Padma Shri award winner Prahlad Chandra Tasa and Dr Mridul Bordoloi, Deviprasad Bagrodia and Dr Purna Kumar Bhattacharyya were the resource persons for the sessions.

The two-day national seminar was inaugurated on September 15 by Dr Rupom Saikia, Director, College Development Council, Dibrugarh University. The keynote address was delivered by eminent litterateur, educationist and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha Dr Nagen Saikia. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr KM Bhagawati, principal of the college.

Dr Ananda Bormudoi, known critic graced the programme as the guest of honour. Deviprasad Bagrodiya, translator, Pulin Rajbongshi, vice-principal of the institution, Krishna Kanta Borah and Ajay Singh, president and secretary of Dibrugarh Zila Sahitya Sabha respectively were also present in the function.
