National seminar at Nowgong College

NAGAON, Aug 22 - On the occasion of its platinum jubilee celebrations, Nowgong College arranged a national seminar to shed light on social development through science and social science. Inaugurating the seminar, Dr Bisawjit Sarma, Director of College Development Council of Gauhati University discussed the role of science in the development of society.

Attending the seminar as the chief speaker, Dr Monorama Sarma of NEHU observed that scientific view points prevail in some of our traditions also. Prof Sarma cited the example of �sacred forest� which was preserved by local people.

Prof RH Dunkan Lingdo of NEHU, Dr Pradip Phukan of GU, Dr S Mallik of IIT Guwahati were present in the two-day seminar as resource persons and they also shed light on the topic.

Principal Dr S Borkataki welcomed the guests and Prof Lira Neog conducted the inaugural function. Dr Chintamani Sarma, coordinator of IQAC presented the topic and seminar convener Dr Pallabi Goswami presented the recommendations of the seminar.

More than 45 research papers were presented in the seminar.
