GUWAHATI, Nov 15 - The qualifying rounds of the National Ranking Table Tennis Championship got under way at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium, in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here today.

The championship has been organised by the Assam Table Tennis Association under the guidance of the Table Tennis Federation of India.

More than 900 paddlers, including all the top ranking players, from all over the country will be seen in action during the six-day meet.

The competitions in the Woman, Man, Youth and Junior categories began today. The main rounds will start tomorrow. From November 18 onwards the finals will take place.

An amount of Rs 6 lakh is at stake as prize-money and it will be offered from the quarterfinal stage onwards.
