NH blockade by BJP activists in Doomdooma over party ticket

Doomdooma, March 5: Hundreds of BJP workers blocked the NH 37 at Uchamati of Doomdooma town today demanding party leadership to nominate Tinsukia district BJP president Lakheswar Moran as party candidate from Doomdooma LAC.

Moran is one of the aspirants of the party ticket to contest election from Doomdooma LAC. Though the party has yet to announce its candidate's name formally, but there is a news in circulation in media that the Tinsukia MLA and Minister of State for Labour and Tea Tribes Welfare Sanjay Kishan will get the party ticket from Doomdooma this time.

Hence, the party workers staged protest against it and demanded the BJP leadership to nominate Lakheswar Moran as party candidate. The party workers told the media persons that they would not accept any Chalani (outsider) candidate , instead they want a local candidate.

On the other hand , the Doomdooma Branch of Asom Moran Sabha also demanded the BJP leadership to field a candidate from Moran tribe from Doomdooma.

In a press release issued by Bhogeswar Baruah and Diganta Moran, the President and the Secretary of Doomdooma Branch of Asom Moran Sabha also demanded the political parties to field Moran candidates in all the five assembly seats of Tinsukia district as the district is dominated by the Moran community
