National equestrian sports concludes in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Jan 11 � The two-day national and national junior endurance championship hosted by the Equestrian Federation Assam (EFA) and held under the aegis of Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) concluded today at the pictorially impressive Ethelwood tea estate here. The events were held on the tracks within the tea plantations and on the banks of the Brahmaputra.

In the 100 Km category, Dafedar Ramesh Kumar of Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) won the individual gold and Lance Dafedar Sanjay Yadav of RVC won the individual silver. For the 80 km category, the individual gold was own by Risaldar Major Raj Pal Singh of RVC while the silver and bronze were won by Dafedar Krishan Kumar And Acting Lance dafedar Saket Sanker also from RVC respectively.

In the team category of the 80 kms, the gold was clinched by Risladar Raj Pal Singh, Dafedar Krishan Kumar, Swar Rider Shree Ram Sarang and Sawar Rider K K Yadav of RVC �A� team and the silver by Acting Lance Dafedar Saket Sanker, Sawar Rider Amit Kumar and Acting Lance Dafedar K Mahesh of RVC �B� team.

The 60 km ride individual category which also show international participation from Switzerland and Great Britain, was won by Captain Harmanjeet Singh of RVC, Silver went to Junmoni Roy of Assam Police and Bronze to Rituparna Chetia also from Assam Police.

The highlight of the event was the National Junior Championships which had teams drawn from Sports Authority of India�s Boys Company from Meerut, The Assam Valley School of Tezpur, Delhi Public School of Numaligarh and Royal Global School from Guwahati. Team from Manipur with their indigenous Ponies, representing the Manipur Equestrian Association also participated in the championships. In this keenly contested event, the individual gold was won by Sawar Hakim Ali of RVC, Silver went to Sawar Rider Ajay Singh Naruke of RVC and Khekrie Rio of Assam Valley School grabbed the Bronze.

In the 60 km team category, Gold was won by RVC, silver by Assam Police and the Bronze by RVC. In the junior team category the championship was won by RVC, while the silver was picked up by team comprising Delhi Public School, Numaligarh and Royal Global School, Guwahati.

Captain Harmanjeet Singh of RVC and Natalie Miller of Switzerland were adjudged first and second respectively in the 60 km international invitational ride.
